Greatest Lie ever told - The Rising sea levels

Bloody hell, this is remarkable stuff! Hat Tip to No Minister

This has to be read to be believed:

....there is one scientist who knows more about sea levels than anyone else in the world it is the Swedish geologist and physicist Nils-Axel Mörner, formerly chairman of the INQUA International Commission on Sea Level Change. And the uncompromising verdict of Dr Mörner, who for 35 years has been using every known scientific method to study sea levels all over the globe, is that all this talk about the sea rising is nothing but a colossal scare story.

Despite fluctuations down as well as up, "the sea is not rising," he says. "It hasn't risen in 50 years." If there is any rise this century it will "not be more than 10cm (four inches), with an uncertainty of plus or minus 10cm". And quite apart from examining the hard evidence, he says, the elementary laws of physics (latent heat needed to melt ice) tell us that the apocalypse conjured up by
Al Gore and Co could not possibly come about.

The reason why Dr Mörner, formerly a Stockholm professor, is so certain that these claims about sea level rise are 100 per cent wrong is that they are all based on computer model predictions, whereas his findings are based on "going into the field to observe what is actually happening in the real world".

When running the International Commission on Sea Level Change, he launched a special project on the Maldives, whose leaders have for 20 years been calling for vast sums of international aid to stave off disaster. Six times he and his expert team visited the islands, to confirm that the sea has not risen for half a century. Before announcing his findings, he offered to show the inhabitants a film explaining why they had nothing to worry about. The government refused to let it be shown.

What will the Greenies be saying about this? This is an outrage and all of you who believed Al Gore deserve to be ridiculed. I mean seriously, you're idiots.

Care to dispute it?

Mr President and his Ice Cream

How is this offensive?

I was more offended when I had people who had no education or knowledge of international politics sending me photos of President Bush as a monkey, or making stupid political statements they learned from Michael Moore. This is hilarious...

Gordon Brown gets schooled...

Watch this excellent address by Daniel Hannan MEP to Gordon Brown. It is a true work of genius

Note how you see Brown chuckling away at him. It reminded me of when Cullen and Clark were being shit kicked by National and they were laughing because they didn't give a toss about how much they have fucked NZ.

Clark gets UN Job

As expected Clark hits the international mushie gravy train.

She is "well known for her grasp of international affairs"

Agreed.

She is well known for putting her foot in her mouth when she offended the US with her ill timed and amateur comments re Gore and Iraq.

Maybe if she has a little problem with an opinion from another leader she doesn't like, she can call them "wreckers and haters"...or "cancerous and corrosive".

Maybe if the production of reports gets a bit much she can sign someone elses?

She is well known for tolerating corruption so there will be no need for the normal UN orientation.

I agree with Tamihere on this, when things get tough Clark resorts to name calling and finds the difficult decisions difficult to make.

My prediction is an epic fail and huge embarrassment for New Zealand

Complainers!

The Telegraph had an article on the most Ridiculous Holiday Complaints which is worth a good read.

Some people are stupid, for instance - "We bought 'Ray-Ban' sunglasses for five euros (£3.50) from a street trader, only to find out they were fake."

Sigh.

Who the F*** are You?

I ventured to Auckland this weekend to see some child hood heroes. I always view such trips with trepidation due to my fear of idols falling short.

With the Who I was particularly concerned as in the past there have been reports of Daltrey's voice failing, Townsend going deaf (who whadda thunk it), and the absence of Moon and the Ox. I therefore was prepared for an underpowered out of tune nostalgia covers band, who toned down the historical thunderous sonics in consideration of old man Townsend's hearing.

I was so fucking wrong!

The sound was fantastic. Loud, abrasive and clear. Daltrey hit every note and I can honestly say I have never heard a guitar projected as violently elegant as Townsend did last night.

There was no Substitute, Pictures of Liliy or I can see for Miles, but Wont Get fooled again, Lover Reign over me and See Me, Feel me were gigantic.

To my mind you can take your bed wetting pretenders Coldwank, your sanctimonious hypocrites U2 and every hip hop artist ever and shove them.

This is how you rock.

A suggestion for Pauline Hanson

Is Pauline Hanson serious about her political comeback? She has more chance of getting in than David Bain has of being acquitted.

Her recent nude pictures (if it was indeed her) shows she was a bit of a hottie back in the day and does attract a certain kind of male still. Which leads me to her combining her penchant for the political with her undoubted sex appeal for men.

She should consider a career in acting, specifically as a potential replacement for Stifler's mom. God knows the world needs more MILFs!

UPDATE: 3 people have taken the bait - this was a pisstake

Boring!.....Bring on the Greens

This government is boring!

I was promised a baby eating, far right, cabal of rich pricks and neo liberals and all we have got is centrist, pragmatic, sensible, steady she goes "management".

I don't give a crap about reviewing public expenditure line by line, encouraging foreign investment, setting ACC back on the course of insurer rather than welfare agency, toughening up on crims, restoring choice to parents, reducing red tape and the tax burden.......I want some action.

Why can't Judith Collins drive home pissed one night and get busted (at the very least intersting)

Why can't John Key forge a few paintings whilst breaking the speed limit and selling diplomatic postings?

Why can't Brownlee hit someone in the chamber?

Surely someone could take a bribe from a multumillioniare racing family in return for policy?

Everything is too sterile. Key seems hell bent on competence and pragmatism as opposed to the enjoyable buffonery of the previous administration.

Even the opposition is a boring predictable debacle of tired 20th century class war posturing.

What we need is the Greens.

Yes good old fashioned loony leftism. Given the laughable quality of the current opposition I believe it would be a refreshing change if they out poll labour in 2011 and then fantastic entertaining slapstick politics can resume!

GET IN!

This was a wonderful weekend of sport wasn't it?

Watching Arsenal smash up Blackburn yesterday was a treat and watching Villa crash and burn to filthy Tottenham today was the icing on the cake. We're back in 4th place and with the remaining of our top players coming off injuries we will be in good form.

Villa on the other hand had a rest week in Dubai and put in a pissy performance in Europe to get out of the UEFA cup. Will this signal the ned of their season?

Arsenal are BACK and we are going to end the season on a high, and about time!

Is this woman the biggest waste of air in NZ?

Drinking while pregnant
Caught 8 times drink driving (god knows how many times she actually did it)
Yelling and causing trouble while in the courtroom during *other* cases.
Having friends who also don't have respect for the law

And so what does she do when she's let free until sentencing in May?
Go to the pub.

So what should happen to her?

Miss Tui

I have visited and even had a few days work within the buildings of Parliament and Bowen House and found it desperately devoid of females that I'd like to entertain. Mainly because I was up there around the time that Labour was in power and none of their women ever seemed too friendly to the idea of socialising or if they did it wasn't with males :)

Whale Oil has bought to our attention that this has all changed thanks to the new energetic Government who has not only shone light throughout the entire country, but have brightened up those dark hallways. One example is the lovely and capable Samatha Rodgers - who works for Rodney Hide. She is running for Miss Tui and I encourage all ACT/National voters/supporters and of course every other red blooded man to vote for her here.. To find her you need to click on the gallery 5 times and she is the second to the right.

Good on you!

Enviromadness Vs Commonsense

What sounds more sensible, using real science, data and facts?

A)

Sea Levels are predicted to rise by ONE METRE meaning the world MUST start forcing eco-taxes upon everything. The worlds biggest businesses must be taxed to ensure their growth is minimal and people like Bomber tell us that money wasting exercises by the previous Labour Government were going to save us and the planet?

This is the same ideology that tells us that big business is bad and is followed by socialists....almost like another ideology that almost died out after the fall of the iron curtain. The science also points towards conclusions that have never been proven and have never happened yet. They also call the people who disagree with this DENIERS, you know - like holocaust deniers.

or B)

Václav Klaus, legendary Czech president who stated Monday: European governments (are) being "alarmist" on the subject of climate change and in thrall to radical environmentalists.

"They probably do not want to reveal their true plans and ambitions to stop economic development and return mankind several centuries back," he said.

He was speaking at a convention; Global Warming: Was It Ever Really a Crisis.
70 participants listed by the Heartland Institute is Jack Schmitt, a former astronaut, who now teaches engineering physics. William Gray, who is regarded as a leading hurricane forecaster, is also listed, along with Fred Singer, the atmospheric physicist who argues that a melting Arctic would have some positive effects, including the formation of the long-sought north-west passage.

Václav states that his position is lonely, which doesn't surprise me considering the mass media and politicans soaking up the fiction. Politicans especially enjoy the idea that they can obtain more tax dollars simply by adding an eco tax to almost anything. What gets me is the way that the Green movement treat those who don't agree with them. This is like the Salem witchhunts all over again! People who question the religious fervour of the global warming movement are deniers and are regarded as stupid - when there are so many people out there who are most certainly not stupid. David Bellamy is a leading environmentalist and TV presenter, but is now consigned to the sidelines because he has spoken up against the theories on gloabl warming.

The Guardian recently embarked on a smear campaign against some of the more prominent experts who have a different opinion to them:

David Bellamy - incapable of rational thought
Melanie Phillips (columist) appears to believe that half the scientists on earth are engaged in a series of giant conspiracies
Sarah Palin - An Alaskan denying climate change is like a Saudi Arabian denying sand
Václav Klaus - a promoter of "gangster capitalism
Sammy Wilson - (Northern Ireland environment minister) He fills the same role as the former South African health minister, Manto Tshabalala-Msimang, who claimed that Aids could be treated with beetroot and lemon juice.

How mature.

So do you believe the hysteria and the name calling or do you believe that there are all sorts of different reasons for the current climate conditions?

I am going to stick to commonsense and I believe that by name calling and screaming at those who wish to express different opinions, will not solve anything. Plus it will give us all a laugh when this hoax is over!

Obama cans NZ FTA

Up go the barriers. Story here

We said this would happen. The man is a walking economic Neanderthal, who threatens to stamp, spit and shit on any chance of a sustainable global economic revival, by imposing good old fashioned, tax, spend and protect measures. What the fuck is so visionary about this regressive socialist in drag?

I have recently been in the US and the media are so deep in an Obama love in that they fail to see and call the deep shit that will really hit the proverbial when this emperor is revealed to have no clothes.

Even a 5th former should know that the Higlanders were murdered at Culloden, pretty much by a bunch of Crusaders!

New U2 album heard on the horizon

Yes, your favourite Irish band are back with their follow-up to "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb". What's more is it has a further ambigious title reminscint of the Sgt Pepper's 60 nomenclature - No Line on the Horizon.

The album has received rave reviews and I must confess it's a cracker

Songs I recommend:

Get on your boots
Magnificent (retro U2 rocker)
Moment of Surrender (about heroin addiction supposedly....their own?)
If I don't crazy I won't go crazy tonight (poppy)
No Line on the Horizon
Breathe

It's worth a listen....better than some of the R&B/Rap/Hip Hop gob being put out

Step two in the Chavez revolution begins...

And it begins... fresh off the victory last week giving him the power to run for election for life..

President Hugo Chávez has ordered the military to seize control of Venezuela's rice mills, in his first major broadside against the private sector since a decisive referendum win boosted his power two weeks ago.

The fiery socialist leader announced the move after accusing private producers of "mocking" the Venezuelan people by hoarding rice to evade government-imposed price caps, causing food shortages.

"I have ordered the intervention starting right now in all those sectors of agro-industry, intervention by the revolutionary government," he said during a speech to commemorate the 20th anniversary of deadly riots over high food prices.

Mr Chávez did not say how long the measure would last but warned companies that if they did not comply with output demands they would be permanently seized by the state.

"This government is here to protect the people, not the bourgeoisie or the rich," Mr Chávez said. "I don't have any problem expropriating.

Scary. What makes it an even more dangerous situation is that Chavez has continued his price caps on food. This is because his policies have created an inflation rate of over 31% - and the price freezes are crippling food production companies throughout the nation.

I think the biggest threat now is the fact that oil is down to $USD40 a barrel, much down on the £USD147 during it's heyday. Furthermore buying votes with free education, sanitation and healthcare will be stretched during this period if the petrodollars are not flowing in as much. Brazil which is commodity rich is friends to both Cuba and America are also a threat, not to mention now that President Bush is enjoying life outside the White House so Chavez can no longer use the US as his favourite punching bag.

No doubt he will be doing all he can to sweep his revolution through, despite he can now stay as President forver if he wishes.

See also Video and quotes from Chavez.

Do you hear that? Silence!

Where are the blog posts from the leftwing blogosphere about the ACC nightmare we inherited from Cullen?

I hope that the papers and TV news pounce on this and ride it for as long as they can. What Cullen did is criminal. No wonder he has got a shite job after leaving his finance minister post. Usually "competant" finance ministers get plum jobs or job offers with successful companies, high paid consultancy or juicy overseas jobs.

Cullen will be remembered as the one who stole the money, sneered at those wanting some of their high taxes back and then lied about our real financial position.

Labour should hang their heads in shame.

Dumb

No surprises really. Another example of a union muscling into someplace where they are unwanted.

The union is thinking that they are as powerful as the American acting unions, unfortunately as history shows, unions like this are irrelevant and a joke.

Matt McCarten and the law of Godwin's

Matt McCarten is a fucking tool. I don't subscribe to the softly softly approach that he says good things and bad things. He is a prize twat.

His Herald column today proves it once again why this idiot is not only a tripper, but is on another planet than us. The same planet that gave us Bomber, The Green Party and the writers at The Standard.

Surely he has heard of Godwin's law? If so, that what the hell does this mean?

Roger Douglas' storm trooper unit, the Act Party, has five MPs (including himself) in a support deal with the National Government.

WFT?

The single most dangerous thing facing NZ during this time is any chance that you have any influence on our political direction Matt. I am onto you. You and your union buddies who are taking advantage of low paid, uneducated workers, to join your union so that you have a large uninformed collective. You call ACT stormtroopers and yet your plans with your mass movement is just ridiculous.

You had your day with the Alliance and you FAILED.

Obama...uh oh

Why would unions want to remove the secret ballot, allowing workers to have privacy when voting on union matters... including joining and striking?

That's mental. The Employee "free choice" Act, pushed by the Unions, is pushing exactly that. Here is a neat quote that sums it up perfectly.

It is beyond me how one can possibly claim that a system whereby everyone – your employer, your union organizer, and your co-workers – knows exactly how you vote on the issue of unionization gives an employee 'free choice' ... It seems pretty clear to me that the only way to ensure that a worker is 'free to choose' is to ensure that there's a private ballot, so that no one knows how you voted. I cannot fathom how we were about to sit there today and debate a proposal to take away a worker's democratic right to vote in a secret-ballot election and call it 'Employee Free Choice (John Klein - Rep Minn (R))

How does letting everybody know your vote make it free? How will this stop a bullying union from threatening you about your vote? If you see the stories coming out about the militant American unions you will know what I mean.

The American unions are down to 12% membership nationide, so are desperate to get more members. They are looking into reuniting under one umbrella to get more power and say with the union friendly Democrats and President. The amount of money coming from increased membership is almost unlimited. The unions spent a BILLION dollars supporting Obamas push for the White House last year. The payback is going to make that look like chump change.

I talked about this in September and linked to a good article about how this is a deliberate tactic to increase union membership. Why else would they do this?

We know through history that militant unionism is never good for any country, its economy or individuals. Article here.

It could be a LOT worse!

An awful amount of talking going on at that jobs summit but as expected it has proven that a Government is the biggest impediment to growth and capitalism.

The big issue is the proposed trans-national bike trail... I wonder if the politicians have thought this through? And why would this bike trail bypass Nelson? As a Nelsonian I'd be annoyed that they would put it through the cultural wasteland that is Picton and Blenheim... but I guess again this is a blessing in disguise. Nelson already has some good bike tracks and the last thing we need is the Govt digging up parts of our region anyway.

Now put it this way, if this is the best the "rich, white, male" could come up with, imagine how LOONY the proposals would have been if we had the people in that the Hand Mirror, Standard, No Right Turn and Bomber had wanted! Free icecreams for all!

Now the trouble begins. The RMA is going to hold up this white elephant. Not to mention the huge amounts of Taniwha that run along the exact same parts as this proposed track. (what a coincidence!) Should the Government start making bikes as well, you know - to ride along this path? That would create a few jobs!
