Good god, Stuff should employ me as their travel writer. How lame is it that their Aussie based writer couldn't even spend 48 hours in Party Town Pattaya in Thailand.

He whines:

Penniless in 'the sleaziest place on earth' ....from the moment I step on to the town's main strip, I know this place isn't for me. My heart sinks further when I go to my hotel.

Although it's a neat little number just off the main strip, when it comes to paying for my room I discover that my Visa card is missing.

Initially I feel I was probably pick-pocketed on the bus. Then it dawns on me that I must have left it in an ATM in Bangkok.

Having just $10 to my name, I start to panic. So I ring my mum. She promises to sort something out for me, somehow.

Like Mummy should even be an option in Patty!

To take my mind off things, I go for a walk but within five minutes it's clear that I'm stuck in possibly the sleaziest place on earth.

Neon lights advertising girls, sex and more girls flash incessantly.

Petite girls in mock school uniforms are holding up boards promoting "two for one cocktails" and "free sex shows". A few hours later, I'm awoken by a bleeping text message.

I remember a bar that gave me one free beer AND a cocktail for every beer I bought... insane. And no nudity around me either...

It's from my saviour. "I've wired some cash out to you – be good," Mum says.

At dawn, I head to the exchange office, show my passport and almost bite the poor woman's hand off as she gives me the notes.

I hail a taxi to the bus stop and ride back to Bangkok, breathing a monumental sigh of relief.

Good god, there is a reason why Pattaya is well known for parties as well as pretty good tourist activities. It looks like lame boy booked from an el-cheapo establishment and was dropped off right in the middle of Walking Street. Pattaya also has good diving, excellent nightlife AWAY from the go go's and hotels/shopping that are far removed from upsetting this little delicate reviewers sensibility.

In fact the entire article may as well have not been written. I'm surprised he even got through Bangkok although we have yet to see poor Steves experiences from that big bad town.

I hope he wasn't paid on completion of these travels and I hope his mother charged interest on that loan... I hate tourists like this. Judgemental and utterly pathetically lame. Article here.

The Taxaholics

Been a little quiet around Jordan Carters blog lately, mainly when the best you can say is that flat taxes are wrong, make people less well off and be against workers having more of their hard earned wages.

Where does he get off to say workers should be taxed more? What is wrong with working hard and being allowed to take home the proceeds of their efforts? Surely this money is better off in your pockets than those of Labour and National politicians?

Jordan states that people like me should get my head read - when essentially people like him who think that Michael Cullen or Bill English are better at spending my money than I am. What would be wrong with a $20,000 tax free threshold and then a flat rate of 12%? As I said in Jordans comments, 12% of $30,000 is far less than 12% of $1,000,000 - and yet greedy Jordan wants his hands on more and more of yours and my money... he's addicted. That is why he tried to get into Parliament, he cannot wait to get his hands on as much as other peoples money as possible.

Worse still...he credits John Key for having the foresight in ruling out a flat tax...

Add that insult to the glorious attack Cactus Kate launches on Bill English. Bill is most certainly the worst person to speak about taxes, trusts, tax avoidance and cuts... I can't even do it justice, read the article for yourself. Bill, like Jordan is a Taxaholic - two peas from the same pod.

I don't know what is worse, Jordan praising Nationals tax pledges or Bill doing sweet FA and ruining a chance to get NZ back on the right track.

I recently had the displeasure of experiencing this charade first hand when a elderly relative fell into the clutches of an iridologist.

Without going into the details this charlatan advised this diabetic old woman with heart and lung problems to abandon her Insulin and stop her cholesterol lowering drug.

She was duly charged for such sage advice!

Needless to say, a hyperglaecaemic event ensued and emergency hospitilisation was required.

I have no time for Michael Laws, mainly because I have never had anything to do with him and have found him to a bit of a preening wannabe. But he is bang on about the stupidity from the Race Relations idiot Joris de Bres, I mean what on earth did it achieve to give school kids a certificate because they stood up to the mayor?

Laws has every right to be pissed off and Joris should be sacked for even getting involved with this case. Wanganui has voted to keep their name the same, Joris and his meddling department along with the radicals and other tree huggers think otherwise. This is another case of people getting round the democratic processes to push something which is unecessary and a waste of money to push an agenda.

Phil Goff - New Zealands political incredible shrinking man has done the political equivilent of kerb crawling by accusing Rodney Hide of charging people to hear him talk about his political area of responsibility.

What utter stupidity. Are Kiwis *that* stupid that they don't understand that Rodney was speaking at an ACT meeting? Goff is a member of a party that still doesn't admit they were wrong to support Taito Field who CHARGED his own constituents for immigration help. Tiling is quite a big difference don't you think, especially as ACT, like every other party, charges it's members for a function where you get to talk to your party leader.

Rodney is a leader who is worth paying $45 to go listen to. Unlike Goff who is probably jealous because he can't even pay to get people to come listen to his waffle.

Since when did breakfast a few drinks and convivial conversation with Rodney Hide for ACT party members ever be something worthy for Goff to comment on? Is it that bad for the soon to be departing Labour leader? Whatever next? Goff commenting on John Keys brunch habits? He better get started as I did see a few dodgy looking muffins roll by.....

On this blog we have seen many instances where terrible parents have continued to kill their kids, beat them and take their lives and yet no comment from Sue on how her law could have prevented this. In fact her silence when this abuse continues is quite telling.

The Families Commission this week have found that the majority of parents still smack their kids. No surprises really considering 87% of Kiwis wanted her law to piss off. Referendums like this makes me glad that Kiwis have some commonsense!

Barack Obama's Top 10 unfulfilled pledges

Less than nine months into his four-year term of office, President Barack Obama's record is already one of abandoned promises, sidelined issues and lack of action.

1.PROMISE BROKEN. Mr Obama said he would "not sign any non-emergency bill without giving the American public an opportunity to review and comment on the White House website for five days". But the "sunlight before signing" promise has already fallen by the wayside with Mr Obama signing three major bills without public scrutiny.

2.PROMISE BROKEN. Mr Obama repeatedly said he would negotiate health care reform in televised sessions broadcast on C-SPAN, the public service network. Instead, he his approach has been no different from his predecessors, holding talks behind closed doors at the White House and Congress.

3.PROMISE BROKEN. Mr Obama solemnly pledged that "no political appointees in an Obama-Biden administration will be permitted to work on regulations or contracts directly and substantially related to their prior employer for two years". In practice, Mr Obama has granted several waivers to this rule, allowing lobbyists to serve in the top reaches of his administration.

4.PROMISE BROKEN. Mr Obama said he would end income tax for the elderly making less than $50,000 per year, thereby eliminating taxes for seven million of them. This has not been part of his economic stimulus bill, his first budget outline or any legislation proposed by the White House.

5.PROMISE STALLED. On taking office, Mr Obama announced with great fanfare that the Guantanamo Bay prison camp would be closed within a year of his inauguration on January 20th. Defence officials now concede that this self-imposed deadline will not be met.

6.PROMISE SIDELINED. Mr Obama promised to end the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy that prohibits openly gay personnel from serving in the United States armed forces. Despite reiterating the pledge this weekend, Mr Obama shows no signs of taking concrete action on the issue.

7.PROMISE BROKEN. Mr Obama said that in 2009 and 2010 "existing businesses will receive a $3,000 refundable tax credit for each additional full-time employee hired". Democrats on Capitol Hill opposed this and Mr Obama has quietly abandoned the proposal, omitting it from his list of requirements for draft legislation.

8.PROMISE BROKEN. During the campaign, Mr Obama promised that "as President I will recognise the Armenian genocide" carried out by the Ottoman Empire after 1915. Once in office, he travelled to Turkey and made no mention of genocide. In a statement in April on the memorial day for the genocide he spoke of the "heavy weight" of history and the "terrible events " of the period but failed the use the g-word.

9.PROMISE SIDELINED. As a candidate, Mr Obama highlighted his support for abortion rights, stating he would back this up "by passing the Freedom of Choice Act as president". At a press conference marking his first 100 days, Mr Obama said this was "not my highest legislative priority" and that it was important to "focus on those areas that we can agree on".

10. PROMISE SIDELINED. Mr Obama promised to end warrantless wiretaps on the domestic communications of Americans and to "update the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act to provide greater oversight and accountability". So far, he has taken no action.

It's nothing personal Mr President; micro-expressions and lie-detecting expert Emanuel Maisel reckons we all do it.

"It's human to lie but the truth is written all over our faces," says the Te Awamutu-based expert, who is hosting a workshop on micro-expression detecting on November 10.

The South African-born former prosecutor and self-described "lie-catcher" was trained by some of the world's top micro-expression experts. Mr Maisel, and his son Kan, 18, are both experts at micro-expression detecting, recently made popular in the TV show Lie to Me.

And there's not much you can get past either of them.

"I don't like to be bullshitted," says Mr Maisel, also a trained mediator, arbitrator, and hostage negotiator.

A face will commonly portray seven different emotions – anger, fear, disgust, contempt, joy, sadness and surprise.

A dishonest portrayal of these emotions, or "leakages", will give away a liar.

"There's always two faces to every person. Eventually you'll get caught out."

Body language is also important, with hand and body movements playing a big part in identifying if someone is telling a lie.

Lying, Mr Maisel says, is unavoidable. Everyone tells the odd fib. He himself admits to doing it on occasion.

But he reckons the old adage, that politicians are the best at it, rings pretty true in his observations.

"You can see the bullshit written all over his face," he says, pointing to a picture of former US president George W Bush.

He also picked out former president Bill Clinton as an expert liar, citing the Monica Lewinsky scandal and attempted cover-up as an example of "Slick Willy" at his best.

According to research, people lie about three times in every 10-minute conversation.

One mans “bail out” is another mans tax increase.
Neville Key promised us tax cuts, instead we are now faced with having more money stolen from us to fund an organisation that is being systematically ripped off by so called medical professionals and assorted others.
A real National government would see any increase as going against it’s beliefs and principals, a real conservative government would look at this as a once in a lifetime opportunity to break ACC down and start again, what a pity we do not have that government, what a pity we have a bunch of socialist wankers who are more concerned about staying in power than doing what is right.
Never again do I want to hear another National party apologist or cheer leader talk about how Klark and Kullen “wasted” the last nine years, in eleven short months Neville Key and the rest of his socialist MP’s have passed up numerous chances to start on the long road to recovery, I would go as far as to suggest that in eleven months Key as “wasted” more chances than Klark and Kullen had in nine years.

Oh and he'll get $1.4 million USD as prize money.

I think the Nobel committee has bought into the Obamamania gimmick. Put it this way, the nominations CLOSED Feb 1st this year - Obama was only just President.

When I say JUST, he was inaugurated TWO WEEKS before the deadline. Two weeks and we are to expect he was on the shortlist? Give me a break.

As some of you may know I have been on jury service this week, as a result I have has less time to read the blogs, however, yesterday during our 1 & 1/2 hour much break (why does the legal system need such long lunch breaks?) I managed to jump onto the net and have a quick surf.

When I am short of time I do not fuck around with the pinko crap, I take a look at this site, DPF's, Whale's (although a lot less frequently since his move to Gotcha) Cactus Kate's (if only because Clint assures me she has big tits) and Lindsay Mitchell's blog.


Anyway, Lindsay posted something that I thought would have taken a complete strangle hold of our news media, she posted something so shocking that I was left in no doubt that it would have headed the news last night or today, instead we have silence from our gutless and pathetic media.


For those of you who missed it or cannot be fucked clicking on the link I will briefly outline what the story is.

The apartheid party and the apartheid parties female co leader has seen fit to blame the white man for the never ending list of Maori child killings, here is just a sample of what the fat, useless tub of lard had to say .......“I support Ngati Manawa’s call for help to address the cultural dislocation and disconnection that leads people to commit acts of violence, and as a minister I will do my very best to help them."

So there you go, the only reason the Kahui twins, Nia Glassie, Lillybing, Dulcia Whittaker, James Whakaruru and all the other little kids were killed at the hands of their "family" is because the white man forced them to do it.

Needless to say our Media have run a mile from this story, no other political party would get away with this crap but for some reason the Mowree party seem to have a free pass.

Anyway, big ups to Lindsay for posting the story, she covers it in more detail that I have the time or desire to do, all I will say is this, clearly Turia and all the rest of the apartheid MP's care far more about rugby world cups and the spelling of Wanganui, than they do about the continuing genocide among their own kids.

Jury service.

Over the last two days I have been on jury service, in the last four years I have been called five times, from that I have served on three juries.

I don't mind doing it, I see it as my civic duty and to be honest I also see it as a chance to make sure that at least a few cases in our fucked up legal system end up being about justice rather than the law.
Now obviously I am not allowed to talk about these cases, however, I am going to talk about the scum who appear before the courts.

I live in a medium sized rural town, we are not far from a major city (major by NZ standards) so when one is called to serve on a jury in that city one would expect to see a cross section of the community represented among the accused.
Sadly that is not the case, on my five visits I have not seen any Somali's, no Asian's, nobody of obvious middle eastern ethnicity, and no pacific islanders. What I have seen are a few people of European heritage and an endless line of Maori scum.

These Maori low life hang around the main doors to the courts trying their best to intimidate the public, they smell, they look like shit and many make no secret of their gang affiliations, they insist on bringing their families and friends along with them.
Often these "friends" feel they need to show all the other Maori losers how "staunch" they are, frankly they are nothing short of vermin.

Every time I hear the usual apologists for Maori low life talk about the way our "justice" system fails Maori I am reminded of the scene that plays out each and every week at court houses all over this Nation, not for one moment would I think that what happens at my local court house is unique, I am reliably informed that this happens at every court house in NZ.

It has been said before, but if you really wanted to make NZ a safe and law abiding place to live in then you need a government brave enough to deal with the "Maori" problem.

Pity that nothing will ever be done about it.

Phil Heatley = gutless wimp

It seems that 1400 state house tenants want to buy the state provided home they currently live in.
Many see this as a good thing, certainly, home ownership is something to be encouraged.

Of course not all of these 1400 will be able to complete the purchase, however the very fact that they have registered an interest should send warning signals to any government who is genuinely interested in getting people off benefits and reducing the social welfare burden.

If 1400 people feel they are able to buy a state house then those same 1400 people should be immediately investigated by Housing NZ, any state house tenants who do qualify for a mortgage should be evicted from their state house without delay.
It is not the job of the long suffering tax payer to provide accommodation for bludgers who have the ability to service a mortgage of their own, indeed, in a perfect world the tax payers would not provide state housing at all, that is better left to the private sector.

So there you go Mr Heatley, stop pandering to left wingers and Labour voting scum, remember what party you are supposed to be a member of and get rid of any bludgers who are living in a state house when they have the ways and means to purchase one of their own.

NZUSA out to ‘rebrand’ slavery

WELLINGTON: Slavery should be rebranded as an ‘opt-out labour arrangement’, the New Zealand University Students Association (NZUSA) said today.

“Let’s face it, slavery has a bad name,” a NZUSA representative said. “For thousands of years slavery has been associated with force, compulsion and the negation of civil rights,” he said, “however we think slavery needs a new image”.

After exhaustive research conducted over two and half days NZUSA has suggested that slavery should be thought of as an ‘opt-out labour arrangement’.

“After all, even though slaves were forced into labour against their will, they could always leave—or opt-out—if they wanted to. They could run away or buy their freedom,” NZUSA said. “If slaves were really unhappy about servitude all they needed to do was make a bit of an effort. If they didn’t make the effort we can only assume they were happy.”

“The ability of any slave to opt-out if he or she chooses means that slavery doesn’t breach civil rights,” NZUSA said.

Legal expert Sir Geoffrey Palmer said he hadn’t seen the NZUSA report but would be willing to read it for his “usual fee”.

NZUSA said their work on slavery was the first in a series. Future reports include: ‘Compulsory military service – opt-out warriors’ and ‘Prisoners – opt-out guests of Her Majesty’.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has reported it will be investigating the air quality at NZUSA’s offices. “We’ve read the NZUSA report,” a Ministry official said, “and we’re very concerned. It’s obvious they’ve been smoking some pretty strong stuff down there.”

The EU...who can save us?

I guess for 99.7% of my readers, the EU constitution doesn't really affect you. I personally didn't think too highly of it the first time they pushed it on the Irish and was very surprised the cheeky bastards tried it again. The Irish were taken advantage of during the recession and were tricked into voting yes.

These tactics worked after WW2 when much of Central/Eastern Europe voted in communist/socialist parties who were aligned to the Soviet Union and as a result were pulled into the Iron Curtain. Nations were politically and economically destroyed and the citizens had nowhere else to look to. The EU has taken the economic downturn to their advantage and done the exact same thing to Ireland. Disgusting.

The Poles are going to fall into line with this as well. To their credit they have held out on this a little longer, but everybody expects them to ratify it soon.

That leaves us with the Czechs. Not content to have a President who speaks more commonsense about climate change than any other world leader, Vaclav Klaus is also sceptical about the treaty and wants to hold out for a bit longer. It is a remarkable turnaround for a country that was part of the Soviet empire to now be the lone wolves fighting against European pressure and freedom for its citizens. The Czechs are right to be worried, their economy is doing ok and they quite like their political independence over law making. Ratifying the constitution will mean that laws will be decided in Brussels - which has the potential to have the same affect as laws being made in Moscow, if the proper checks and balances are dispensed with.

The Telegraph has a brilliant post on the Mayor of Teplice, Jaroslav Kubera and his opposition to the treaty. Well worth a read. The Brits would hope the Czechs can hold out a little more but we all know what Brussels wants - it always gets!

We may need that missile shield after all!

Ooops should be the words coming from Obamas White House after a week where he withdrew the proposed missile defence shield because apparently the Iranians and other rogue powers were nowhere near as ready to deply weapons.

Oh dear indeed Obama. It seems that the Iranians have got at least another uraniam enrichment plant which was now known about which has led to many wondering how many others are out there. Whats worse is that this week after this knowledge became available the Iranians made some surprisingly successful missile tests which puts Iranian missiles within easy reach of Israel, parts of Europe and U.S. military bases in the Mideast.

Suddenly the policy of appeasing the Russians doesn't sound too good anymore does it?

I wonder what the Europeans think of all this after that disgraceful backdown to Russia by the Obama administration?

Two more things I thought I would post here in lieu of another post. First, the truely excellent speech by Czech President Václav Klaus given to the UN about Climate Change. Václav has been for a long time an excellent speaker against the stupidity of the great climate swindle and this speech doesn't disappoint! Pity the poor Czechs were shafted by the Americans last week eh? Hat Tip NZ Conservative.

And the last thing is the little issue of some schools in America getting school kids to sing songs about Obama. A little worrying to start worshipping a president. Obama doesn't have a clean slate, especially with his dodgy background and "friends". This grassroots stuff is just trying too hard. Story here.
