Invictus 2

Dear Blog owner, at the risk of losing posting rights I thought I needed to clear up one or two things about this film and its place in history.

1 "Will anybody in NZ really be interested in watching this movie?"

Hell yes!, it is a great film, every Kiwi should watch it.

2 "Is anybody going to be careful to check what is in their popcorn to avoid any untimely illnesses during the film?

Only if they are prone to 'choking' when the pressure comes on.

3. "Am I allowed to say FUCKING CHEATING SAFFA BASTARDS and not get spammed by some jacked up South African rugby fan"

No, because despite the rantings of mad Laurie Mains there has NEVER been any evidence to suggest that the New Zealand team were poisoned.

4. " Does anybody else see the irony that New Zealand, long time supporters of South African rugby were screwed by them?"

Nope, there is no irony, we lost

5 "Why did South Africa think that winning this was so important?

That point is made fairly clear in the movie.

Kiwis really need to HTFU, as hard as it might seem for some the movie Invictus is NOT ABOUT US!

Did we really think the film was going to portray the New Zealand side as the brave losers?

It is not really a rugby film, indeed, the one criticism I do have of the movie is that the rugby scenes are far too long.
I loved the film, Morgan Freeman was born to play the role of Mandela, hell, even that pinko bastard Matt Damon who played the role of François Pienaar did an outstanding job.

Watch the movie, see it for what it is and for fuck sake Kiwis, get over our highly embarrassing identity crisis.

The Waitangi Day Pub Crawl

While you Kiwis will be enjoying a nice long hot summer day, no doubt having a BBQ and sipping a few beers - we'll be freezing our asses off in our tiny flats in London cursing under our breaths whenever you guys text us the weather updates.

Thankfully MOST of us will be celebrating it in the traditional way - by invading the streets of Central London on the Waitangi Day Pub Crawl. This will be my 6th crawl and I am always excited by this event - to a degree that I am now pulling the arrnagements together for it which has been a busy job!

Why I get involved with it is because it's a good natured and fun event - so much that when I met the British Transport Police yesterday they said exactly the same thing. There isn't any major trouble - in fact comparable to similar events in London, we hardly register. TVNZ always love to show drunken hakas, drunk Kiwis spilling onto the streets and all sorts of anti social behaviour, but this is just selective clips designed to get people back home cringing and tutting into their beers while watching the daily news. Ask any Kiwi who has been on this event and they will say it's a manic day, with loads of Kiwis out having a fun day.

The Kiwi business community have also come to the party and have all given me deals to pass on to the pub crawlers for the weekend so it is going to be a massive one.

If you are in London and want to get involved, either leave a comment or join our Facebook group here.

I was also interviewed by British magazine, Fluid. Check out the interview here, and also my piece on the top 10 bars to visit for the big day!

I will be enjoying this event and with the support we have so far I predict it will be a huge one again this year.

Invictus

Will anybody in NZ really be interested in watching this movie?

Is anybody going to be careful to check what is in their popcorn to avoid any untimely illnesses during the film?

Am I allowed to say FUCKING CHEATING SAFFA BASTARDS and not get spammed by some jacked up South African rugby fan.

Does anybody else see the irony that New Zealand, long time supporters of South African rugby were screwed by them? That doesn't make sense after all the fuss over the Springbok tour and the Cavaliers which according to the leftie "split" the country.

Why did South Africa think that winning this was so important?

Anybody else Google Fuck South Africans? NSFW.

He wants his party back...

Kaine Thompson (me neither) has written on Grassroots Labour a long thought out blog post about Labour and the troubles they are in today. He is ever so careful to not upset anybody from his party but it doesn't really seem to actually offer any proper solutions either.

If you are going to start to move on Kaine you may want to start shedding some of the old baggage. Looking at the photo albums on Grassroots Labour the first page is almost dominated with photos of Helen Clark. How on earth can you move on when you have this woman looking over your shoulder all the time? Your party, to its eternal disgrace, managed to blackball Mike Moore - and yet Helen was the one who deservedly led your party to distruction in the last election. Surely the best way to start reparing your broken party is to move away from the politics of nastiness and start accepting some home truths.

Number one. Kaine in typical Labour style says the only reason why Labour lost was because "Labour became so entrenched in government that people began to become bored with us" and "we were not despised for anything in particular".
What planet are you on Kaine? Labour were most certainly despised for many things they did - banning smacking of kids in their own homes by their own parents is one good reason, without consultation with National you also tried to seriously affect how political parties could campaign while looking after your good buddy Owen Glenn.
Protecting the criminal Winston Peters didn't win you friends either and the inability for your Dear Leader to lie about small things rather than to face up to them was also a factor in the minds of the majority of the voters. (Paintergate and withholding facts on GM crops etc etc)

Kaine continues... what we should have taken from this is two things: 1- people didn't hate us, they were bored and 2- Opposition gave us our first chance to demonstrate to New Zealanders that we had indeed heard them..

Utter utter nonsense and this sort of limp-wristed denial about what damage you caused to NZ is proof that we are very lucky to have got you lot out. You destroyed ACC and lied about it, you renationalised the Rails purposely when you were in double digits behind National in the polls - to hamstring the future Government. The spiteful language used by Helen was stuff simply unheard of by other leaders (cancerous and corrosive, chinless scarf wearers...) Your Party has taken the Maori vote for granted and decades of Labour inspired welfarism is to blame for the high crime rates and underachievment in our schools amongst many other things that has destroyed what was a proud independent race.

My advice? PURGE. Jacinda Ardern is NOT the future. Stop Charles Chauvel from stalking young men on social networking. Phil Goff WAS potentially leadership material but Helen held on for too long and his 'aura' has disappeared. Tiger Trev is a loose cannon who seems to have a great future in internet censorship (look at his gung-ho approach on censoring over at Red Alert). Parekura Horomia and Shane Jones look like they have eaten what is left of any useful prospects in the party and even your President Andrew Little is confused about what hat to wear each day. Either way many NZers are not comfortable with him holding two positions, especially as powerful as his one.

You might want your party back but New Zealand was sick of your party and were very happy to put up the streamers when Labour left. Labour is struggling at the moment for two big reasons - people like you including MPs who are living in the past and who believe Labour lost because people wanted to see what the other fulla was like, and the fact that National are so well entrenched in the Centre and people haven't noticed too many changes at all.

If you are proposing that Labour swings to the left then I don't have advice for you. I would never advise any party that advocates greedy left wing selfishness and union control over our country. Advocating towards this direction isn't the way of the future - it's pushing NZ backwards. Go this way at your peril, and if you do, you'll still need to purge your numbers.

WE don't want your party back.

2010 ACT Board Elections

ACT on Campus has surveyed the candidates who are standing for the ACT Board elections and there have been quite a few good answers and plenty of food for thought. One thing about ACT that is different from other parties is the openness in all levels from our MPs to candidates. Well done to Campus ACT for some more good work and good luck to all candidates!

Another piece of human waste

This is the face of Te Ahu Aaron Mankelow, a 31 year old piece of shit who fed five six week old kittens to his pit bull.

What I would not give for ten minutes alone with this cunt in a room.

While I am a dog lover and trainer I believe the government has no option but to ban the breed, the problem is not with the dogs but the low life scum who are attracted to them.

I hope this prick gets prison time and I hope his fellow inmates make him suffer.

Mad world...

Politicans from Labour AND National are seriously looking at more funding going towarads stomach stapling operations. No surprises that politicians have been enthusiastic recipients of this surgery after supping indulgently off the taxpayers teat. After all, what's tens of thousands of dollars to the poor suffering politicians?

A little personal responsibility, some self control and a balanced diet should be promoted rather than this easy Government hand out. By saying that, I take it all back if you are insured and get it done privately :)

Socialist "freedom"

Why isn't Minto shining up his loudhailer over the injustices in Zimbabwe, North Korea, China or Venezuela? Quite simple - he is a old fat hypocrite who has supported hardline far left regimes since he was a young fat commie. I don't believe his crocodile tears over his arrest over tormenting young female tennis players - and while I support his right to act like a dickhead for the purposes of free speech, I don't think he is doing his cause any credit, whatever the cause is.

I reckon Minto has no idea what he stands for any more. He is a bewildered old commie who feels he needs to stand up when the cameras are on him, so he can progress his tired old ideology that was wiped out over 2 decades ago.

Here is a cause that would give Minto some street cred. Attack Hugo Chavez for turning Venezuela into a third world socialist backwater. This blog has been following the progress of Mr Chavez for a few years now and Chavez (like Minto) has been following a tired old script. Destroying human rights, freedom of speech and freedom of the media while building up citizens militia and importing billions of dollars of weapons to stabilise his regime all seem like tinpot dictator standards, however this is happening today and there has not been one peep coming out of John.

The latest outrage is that Radio Caracas Television (RTCV), in independent cable channel, has been taken off air for noncompliance with new regulations requiring the socialist leader's speeches be televised on cable. How handy. So Chavez is making it compulsory for all networks to play his crazy rambling speeches and if these private organisations ignore it they get thrown off air? This isn't the first time RCTV has been attacked by Chavez, in 2007 RCTV switched to cable and satellite television after the government refused to renew its over-the-air license. In August, Chavez's government forced 32 radio stations and two small TV stations off the air, saying some owners had failed to renew their broadcast licenses while other licenses were no longer valid because they had been granted long ago to owners who are now dead. Officials said they planned to take more stations off the air.

All in the name of what Chavez calls part of his socialist revolution of the people. (unless you are a free thinking person who may hold opinions that are not shared by the uber fuhrer of Venezuela)

What does John Minto do instead? He goes out and picks on a 22 year old girl who incidentally was born in Israel - a long well used scapegoat for Mintos anger. The left wing blogs in NZ are also strangely silent on Venezuela but one can't be too surprised considering the way they lean, Labour Youth even invited a member of the Chinese communist party to their conference!

It's fair to say that if anybody listens to John and believes his take on free speech that it should be taken with a grain of salt. He's being selective on what free speech really is. If you are a communist or aspiring dictator who leans leftwards, John will keep his trap closed. To truely believe in free speech you must look the opposite way from John and defend it from every corner of the globe. Minto is no free speech warrior, so I have no problem telling him to shut the fuck up.

See:
Anti Chavez channel removed.

Karl Du Fresne wrote a neat article in the Nelson Mail about Minto.

and finally Hugo Chavez - One Man Axis of Crazy is a good little read, about Chavez and his stupidity...

ACTIVE 2010

ACT on Campus have been working hard over the summer to organise what I think looks like one of the best conferences I have seen for the young centre right in a long time.

ACTIVE 2010 will coincide with the ACT National Conference and will include guest speakers, campaign workshops and social events that is crucial for staying motivated around the years between elections (when most political groups seem to stay quiet).

I understand Cactus Kate will also be making a guest appearance! I am sure she will leave a lasting impression on these young minds as she did when I met her at an ACT conference many years ago.

Democrats to Obama... save OUR jobs!

Hilarious article on Yahoo News today. The Dems are freaking out with the autumn elections later this year - after the smashing they got in the very safe Dem seat of Massachusetts. The headline is "Democrats see Mass. message: Jobs, jobs, jobs." More like save our own jobs Mr President. Politicians only get nervous when their own seats are in danger - especially as they thought they could sit back on their majority and cruise for the first term while Obama pushed through his statist policies.

What this means is that Obama now has to start listening to the people. His victory, as monumental as it was for the United States, wasn't a runaway one. By saying that, his election did prove my point that people making fun of the United States for being politicaly backwards should have eaten their words. New Zealand and UK are many many years/decades away from electing a black leader - and other countries wouldn't entertain the idea for generations. Furthermore President George W Bush has said nothing against the Obama administration, refusing to comment negatively and created one of the smoothest transistions of power ever. (When the Clintons left the White House in 2001, they were alleged to have taken federally-owned furnishings with them while staff – preparing for the arrival of George W. Bush – were alleged to have removed the Ws from computer keyboards) - but I digress.

The interesting thing is the Republican Party has no proper leadership at the moment. They are being led by many popular and well known people but currently have no one figurehead. The Christians and the Fiscal Conservatives are not always the same people - and I suspect the battle for who will lead them to the next elections has a long way to go yet.
If the leaderless GOP can roll the Dems in a seat held by a Kennedy then I suggest the next few years are going to be very interesting.

I look forward to it.

When good junkets go bad....

Cactus Kate has a warning for Labour MP/Self professed disaster tourist Chris Carter - that perhaps he should calm down on the bragging about his latest trip to St Kitts & Nevis.

Chris "Trip Advisor" Carter has everything packed for his trip and has his Lonely Planet all dusted off.. however one thing Chris won't be able to do is pack any fudge or anything resembling it.

Rather than saying anything else, have a look at Cactus Kates post and see what sorts of trouble Chris won't be getting into during his travels... bet he wished he did his research!

What is happening up in Merseyside?

There is a dark cloud hovering over the red side of Liverpool at the moment. Anger is rising over a fat Spanish waiter and his inability to get rewards or trophies for Liverpool FC. There is only one solution - fire the man. Now.

Liverpools greatest victory was of course their Champions League win in 2005 and came in Rafa Benitez's first season as manager however I believe this largely was won with a squad put together by his predecessor Gérard Houllier and Rafa was lucky - thanks to Steven "Biffa" Gerrards influence on the pitch.

Since then, Liverpool have not won a thing and worst still, Benitez has spent a lot of money on rubbish. He has been fortunate to have the backing of the owners who have allowed him to spend what he likes on players - and this should have been questioned as he has wasted millions and now has a team that depends on two players.

Failures like Morientes (£6.3m), Babel (£11.5m), Pennant (£6.7m), Keane (£20.3m), Dossena (£7m) are a few of the flops that have shown that Rafa doesn't have an eye for consistency and talent. His only coup is of course Torres who is a great striker, but this has been diminished by him having no back up making him injury prone due to the high level of dependency on him. Rafa has also spent tens of millions on other smaller purchases for players who have stayed mainly anonymous on the pitch. And lets not forget the stupidity with the whole Xabi Alonso saga?

Liverpool is in financial trouble and they cannot afford a manager like Benitez who is reckless at best in a time when cash is in short supply. A manager needs to be mindful of a clubs ambition and has to balance this with the limitations of a budget.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is the best in the business when it comes to this. * Wenger has assembled a team that has not broken the bank and has the most promising youth development system in the UK - which everybody is extremely envious of. Wenger refuses to pay huge amounts for a player and while this policy isn't always perfect, Arsenal does not have the problems that are facing Liverpool and Manchester United.

Some fans like to point the finger at the owners. However they have allowed Benitez to have the funds to make these purchases. They even allowed him more freedom to run the club and this is simply not working. If Liverpool are to excape mid table mediocrity this season they need to purge the team of their deadwood and start being smarter with their budget. Most players would give their right arm to play for Liverpool - but if Liverpool continue to pay this man to run it, the team will suffer and put them out of the top 4 for years to come.

*yes I am fully aware that Arsenal has not won a trophy since 2005, however Arsenal are also not in any financial trouble and bring in enormous gate reciepts every game. Wenger is well established as a clever money operator who has turned lesser known players into household names and selling them at a huge profit when their legs run out of them.

Union Thuggery Alive and Well 2010.

Story Here

A former seaman has been awarded $10,000 after the Maritime Union wrote an email claiming he had left the union "under a VERY BLACK CLOUD", making it impossible for him to find work.

Of course that "very black cloud" was having the temerity to look for work.........outside the union!!!

Many staff and shipping companies were afraid of the union, which was powerful and ruled the industry with an iron grip, he said. He believed the note stemmed from union members being upset he had stood up to them.

Nothing short of Mafioso standover techniques.

And the "crime"..............

In 1997, Mr Reddie applied to withdraw his superannuation while continuing to work at sea to finance litigation for his sick sons.

Unions have become the parasites in industry, a rich irony, preying on workers as in this case to maintain there own deluded sense of self importance and power. Workers Unions, Student Unions, Professional Unions are all the same. The cruellest deception in pretending to protect whilst all the time driving down the power of the individual worker and feathering their own nest.

We seem to have forgotten about Unions, considered them a necessary evil. I disagree, examples like this should only heighten the resolve of those that believe in individual rights and responsibilities to up the battle.

Students and Teachers first methinks!

Warmest decade or not?

Oh no... more of the same!

Doubts are being raised about the significance of new figures showing the past decade has been New Zealand's warmest on record.

Average national temperatures over the past decade were just a few hundredths of a degree Celsius higher than in the 1980s, the previous warmest.

A National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (Niwa) statement yesterday reaffirmed its statements that the decade was likely to be the hottest recorded.

However, the new statement failed to include figures

Figures? What, like the facts?

Blue Skies Weather forecaster Tony Trewinnard said it was doubtful a few hundredths of a degree was such a statistically significant amount on which to base such statements.

Damn right. WTF is NIWA playing at? Is there a multibillion dollar contract they want to get in on?

I've had enough of this swindle... seriously. Read the rest of the article here.

The New Zealand Bloggers Union supports freedom of Speech

The New Zealand Bloggers Union (NZBU) is closely following the name suppression case involving member 00003 (aka Whale Oil) and hopes that it comes to the natural conclusion that Whale Oil is acquitted. The NZBU supports freedom of speech for all its members, from member number 00345 (Malcolm Harbrow) to member number 01466 (The Hand Mirror).

Name supression laws should not be used to protect offenders and we at the NZBU feel that Whale Oil is doing New Zealanders a great service by exposing these predators.

Furthermore, member 10003 (David Slack) does not speak on behalf of other bloggers or indeed his own blog. Membership to the NZBU includes representation on a national level which maintains that Whale Oil does indeed speak for and behalf of the NZBU and our support for these freedoms will not waver.

Ends:

The NZBU is New Zealands first and only Union set up to represent NZ bloggers and commenters. Membership to the NZBU is compulsory.

The left *DO* have a sense of humour...

Case in point 1.

NZUSA have elected David Do and Ben "Pene" Delaney as their Co-Presidents for 2010.
They have come out fighting - they will primarily fight the VSM bill, like we didn't see that coming! They are disguising it under "protecting the quality of tertiary education" rather than what it really is - safeguarding left wing Union careers and the future backbenchers of the Labour Party. Since when was funding orientation bands, socialist newspapers and decolonisation workshops against your will good for our education? I have to say I don't know much about Ben Delaney, aside from the fact that VUWSA didn't back his push to be NZUSA pres, while everybody knows who David Do is - a Labour Party flunkie who represents the worst of the left wing. Ironically he was president of a voluntary AUSA and now wants it to be compulsory again (something AUSA students will never vote for). He is also the idiot who offered $5000 of students money to any student who would "arrest" Condoleezza Rice. David is only interested in himself - students and their rights to excellent education are way down the list for him.

At least the joke will be on David and Ben who will be the last ever presidents of NZUSA under a compulsory regime. Enjoy it while it lasts fullas!

ACT on Campus have joined the party wishing these two leftie flunkies well for the year :)

Case in point 2.

OUSA no longer have Speights as a sponsor for their O week. But that's not the joke. The laugh out loud part is that OUSA compulsionists always talk about the provision of a "quality" O week being at the heart of why OUSA should be compulsory. Enter this years band - "Health" - described as noisy rants and sharp stomps and on Kiwiblog as a "fluid, spiky maelstrom of blood and neon, mirrorball and icepick”. I expect an apology from OUSA to all students for failing to provide value for money for this years O week.

And finally #3.. something actually funny, this time from the left wing comedy site (I thought they stopped posting) The Standard. See below:
