A Smoking Ban in Prison? I like it!

I am fiercely against the smoking ban in our bars, clubs, offices etc. The anti smoking lobby are a bunch of nico-nazis who have nothing better to do than to interfere in peoples lives and their right to choose whether or not an individual to smoke.

If I was a bar owner and was told all my customers were now being forced outside my bar to smoke I'd fight tooth and nail to protect my livelihood. The smoking ban has resulted in bar closures not only in NZ, but has contributed in delivering a brutal punch to the industry throughout the United Kingdom where bars are closing every day.

By saying that, I am also a non smoker, never smoked in my life apart from the occasional Cuban cigar and never will take up the filthy habit. But that's my choice. Taking away choices is silly.

Anyway, what I do support is the smoking ban for Kiwi prisons. What a great deterrent to prison, knowing you were not allowed to smoke.
On the Isle of Man it worked and I reckon it would prevent more crime than many of the half cooked anti crime ideas that come out of the brains of the do-gooders.

I don't believe prisoners have any rights left when they go to prison, they have committed a crime, more likely against another person or property - why make prison a home away from home? Banning smoking is a sure fire way to scare people away from prison and crime so it should be applauded and implemented immediately!

Almost enough to make you cry...

The Tories in the UK are onto a good thing by cutting public wastage. Everybody knows that the public services are bloated and inefficient. Heads need to roll, people need to learn how to be frugal.... everybody needs to be part of this if the taxpayers are to get value for money. John Key should pay attention!

However, you have to read this story about public wastage in the UK. It's painful and extremely bad on all levels. This nightmare was started by Labour and continued by militant unions and lazy staff....

Councils love their workshops, training courses and seminars. This week alone I've been invited to attend: A cycle hire and efficiency course; a traffic and pollution briefing; and a training course on offsite health and safety.

Next week there is a two-day course on 'letter writing skills' - I dearly hope that Jackie, our departmental PA, will attend this one. I've given up using her and now type my own correspondence and reports.

The last time she typed a letter for me (to an architect) she misspelt 'accommodation' and 'environment' throughout.

I gently pointed this out to her and asked her to redo the document. But she went sick for two weeks with stress, complaining that she was being bullied.

When my boss called me in to discuss this I, jokingly, said: 'Well I'll just let her misspell everything in future, shall I?' To which he replied: 'Yes, I think that's best for now.'

I'm not sure what workshop I was asked to attend for that particular misdemeanour, but I do recall the 'cultural awareness and sensitivity' one following an incident where I outrageously asked a black colleague if I could open a window behind her desk.

It was 88 degrees outside and our offices have no air conditioning. This lady was born and bred in North London but claimed her Caribbean heritage meant she felt the cold and opening a window by six inches would cause her to suffer.

I did the workshop and wrote her a letter of apology as recommended. I actually began to question whether I was racist or insensitive.

Painful... Read the rest of it here.

Thoughts for Friday

Does anybody really believe that Chris Carters apology is genuine?
Anybody else think it has anything to do with his nomination for Te Atatu almost confirmed? Does this mean that he is desperate to remain in the trough?

How can an (ex) minister for New Zealands education and conservation have so many overseas obligations? Why did his partner go with him on every single overseas junket? Why would a minister with no overseas related portfolios spend over $100,000 in 6 months of taxpayer funded travel?

Take away his perks. Restrict all travel unless it is critically essential to his portfolios, which have been reinstated and are in ethnic affairs (!) and conservation, but remember he isn't in Government (nor will be for at least another term) so at this stage none of it would fulfil this criteria. He has been ridiculed for his travel for years and he has ignored every single suggestion that he should stop taking the piss. Lets see how it is like for him to survive like every other working family in NZ and save for his travel.

Or just abolish the Dept for Ethnic Affairs altogether...?

Is Benjamin Easton, better known as the welfare bludger who likes destroying public property, on any form of welfare? Will he be forced to pay damages for his little bit of naughtiness the other day in Manners Mall with his sledgehammer?

He seems to have been hit with with soggy bus ticket for his behaviour so far, if he is on welfare, he should be marched into work right away. Either way, he is old enough to take responsibility for his actions and to not act like a waster parasite. It's a bus lane Ben, not live slaughtering of baby dolphins on Courtney Place - although I'd be happy to eat the proceeds of that :)

Finally.. a visual bit of entertainment for you all!

Robyn Malcolm cements her "Green Credentials"

I guess this is what happens when you join the Green Party. You whine and moan about issues, pretending to know more than others despite being an actor.. not a scientist.

Next comes the bludging....and this truely takes the cake:

The American remake of Outrageous Fortune, which has been renamed Scoundrels, premiered in the United States on Sunday.

The US deal is a coup for Kiwi producer South Pacific Pictures.

However, the original Cheryl West, Ashburton native Robyn Malcolm, has spoken out about the fact the cast will not see a cent of the US windfall.

"We are not protected when these kinds of business deals are made," she said.

"It does mean that even though we have all moved onto other projects, this kind of international business deal, which is new to New Zealand, means that we are connected to that show for a lot longer, and other countries look after their actors.

Are you acting in the American remake Robyn? No you're not. Why do you want to have a piece of somebody elses pie? The deal is simple, the writers or whoever owns the rights to this show sold it to another studio where different actors will make it their way. Why should Kiwi actors get a penny of the work of others?

She's obviously drunk too much dihydrogen monoxide....

Story here, "No Fortune made here..."

Back!

Well, that was a incredibly relaxing 15 days in Mexico, back to the grind in London again, a little tired from the lack of sleep but nonetheless refreshed. The resort was excellent - there is nothing like quiet pools, endless cocktails being bought to you, good restaurant and street food and plenty of hot hot sun and stunning beaches.

Looking forward to the next holiday but for now I am looking forward to getting some posting done on the blog!

1981

I see that former Springbok captain and leader of the 1981 South African tourists Wynard Claasen has called for the 1981 team to come back to NZ on a "bridge building tour".

I think this is a great idea, the team could meet real Kiwis and experience the hospitality that they were denied in 81, in fact this is something that Julie Christie or the like should jump right into, a programme detailing the return of the team would be fantastic to watch.

Of course the usual nutbars have come out of the woodwork demanding apologies from all and sundry, one of the dumbest (it will come as no surprise) being Comrade Locke from the Greens who is demanding an apology from

"our current government" (who) " should apologise for the Muldoon Government backing apartheid sport in 1981."

There will be no such apology from the current government as they have nothing to apologise for, nor does the 81 Muldoon government, Muldoon was never "backing apartheid sport" he was backing the rule of law in NZ, thankfully Muldoon and the rule of law won that battle.

Having said that I do think that thirty years on it is time for all of us to leave those dark days in the past, there is no doubt that the tour split families, caused tensions and opened up wounds that took years to heal, however, those wounds have well and truly healed now and it is time we had these men back and give them the welcome they deserve and were denied.

No apologies, no grandstanding, no politics.

Resignation time.

I gotta admit that I have enjoyed today more than I should have, I do try my best not to take pleasure at the misfortune of others but sometimes there are things that one just cannot look past.

Jones and Labour deserve everything that is coming their way, many of us claimed they were corrupt and many of us suffered the abuse from the left (who still continue to spin this as "no big deal") because of those claims.

Having now reflected on this for the better part of the day and going back to read all the comments on the various blogs (many of which are bloody hilarious) I am left with the horrible feeling that there are a few on the centre right or right who are not much better than the pinkos over at the sub standard.

When you boil it down we should be as outraged at the antics of ANY politician as we are outraged at the Labour ministers abuse of tax payer funds, it does not matter if the trougher is named Jones, Tizard, or Carter, equally it should not matter if they are named Hide, English, Brownlee or Heatley, the bastards are all as bad as each other.

The question I have is this, while not defending Jones at all (he should resign) those of us who like to think we are not cheer leaders should still be equally outraged at the abuse of public funds when they happen to be from our side of the house.

If it good enough for Jones to resign then it should be good enough for Bill English and Heatley to resign from the house as well, there cannot be rules for our "team" and rules for the other "team".
The sense of entitlement these bastards have is beyond belief, they treat each and every one of us like their personal ATM machine and I for one have had enough of it.

Key and Goff could do worse than agree to make an example of one of their MP's, if it means that English and Jones have to carry the can then so be it, the rest will then be on permanent notice that we the public will not put up with this shit any longer.

Football Football Football

So how about that England squad? As a Gooner I am comfortable about Theo not going to South Africa, it will hopefully give him a chance to practise out in the North London sun over the "English Summer" and at least that will mean he will get a run out at the Emirates Cup against AC Milan, where I will be cheering them on.

Good to see Avram Grant take over the poisoned chalice at West Ham. I reckon he is underrated and I hope the East London crowd are nice to him, although knowing their tolerance for Jews, or anybody else, he had better do a good job if he is to excape the boo boys. On a good note, there are plenty of brothels around for him to visit.

I bet Liverpool fans are thrilled that that fat Spanish waiter has finally left. Rafa has left the team in dire straits. Look at how much money he was given over the years and look at his results. The fans are too generous to him, as the team he inherited won him that Champion League final and since then, nothing. I don’t at all blame the owners, as they (apart from the squabbling) gave him a ton of cash and he turned it into shit. Torres and Gerrard are the only two who could be counted on to pull out results and with their careers at Liverpool in jeopardy, whoever takes over has a lot of work to do to rebuild the team.

New Zealands best chance to win or at least get a decent result is against the Slovakian team, but by saying that I reckon they have peaked too early with those 2 excellent results against Aussie and Serbia (WTF?!) but honestly, I hope the boys don't kill themselves in these meaningless friendlies and then die against Slovakia. Paraguay will be a good game too, and I wonder if the Italians will take it too seriously or will they dive around like they did against the Aussies in 06?

I am off for a few weeks in Mexico, so will be off blogging until after the Italian game. But I will be watching a few games in between sunlounging and sightseeing from my in-pool bar :) If you want some World Cup reading, I recommend William Fusseys football blog which has been a good read to date (apart from his support for Leeds United). If anybody else is blogging the WC, leave your url in the comments and if I get time I'll add them here. See you in a couple weeks!

Latvian Blonde Festival.... I have returned!

Holy shit.

I cannot at all explain what made this festival so great for me... but I can safely say it was the best thing I have ever done. No red blooded man can possibly turn down the chance to go to this festival - although I was especially lucky as I am friends with the organiser and so I was able to enjoy it a hell of a lot!

I have photos on my Facebook page, which you can add me if you so desire!

Will maybe add pics, if I can sort some out....

Official pics from the after party here

here is a You Tube clip...I was in this crowd.

How did I last 5 years??

I didn't really forget about this monumental occasion, I have just been distracted by my last holiday to Latvia where I experienced the generous hospitality of the ex Mrs Universe - the President of Go Blonde Latvian Blonde Association, her many blonde helpers and also the International President of Blondes.... oh my.

5 years of Clint Heine and Friends.... didn't we do well? Thanks to everybody who have contributed over the years, you have kept me going even when I am out of inspiration. It has been a pleasure to have insulted so many lefties and pushed the politicially correct boundaries of bad/good taste to the public.

We have been in the newspapers and of course the TV news, and with it has delivered new readers, supporters and of course anonymous idiots who make writing this blog that every bit more special. Anonymous abusers are the cowards of the blogosphere but as they have nothing else in life to look forward to, I am doing them a great service!

Cheers to my readers, I will be over the next few months, sorting out some redesigning of the blog and freshening up a little. But for now, Cheers!

I imagine there will be the ususal anon comments about a five year old blog for five year olds, but somehow I dont think those involved care.

Anyway, happy birthday.
