What's on Labours Facebook today?

Been a tough week for the Labour Party, I wonder what they are planning to do in order to wind down?

Let's have a look:

Chipkins has decided to glam it up for the weekend. Fish n Chips you say? Is that a subtle coup reference?

Curran shows herself to have no taste in music, but awfully keen to harrass that poor girl Justin Bieber... But wisely remembers that any dancing she does will be taped... we all remember Pete and those dance steps.

Mt Albert mentioned 3 times in one update. I guess Dave loves Mt Albert.

Solidarity Forever? Good grief, Andrew Little really knows how to party. Does Little really get inspired by these communist tunes?

And finally..

Wisest thing he has said in a long time. May it long continue!

And what about Chris Carter, already taken off the Labour website under the MPs list... what does he have to say?

Ahh, he is saying what everybody else in NZ has been saying. Thanks Chris!

No love, it's called petty theft....

Christchurch mayoress Jo Nicholls-Parker said it was "perfectly legit to take some perks" such as coffee and muffins because she worked fulltime for the city for free.

No it's not legit. And don't go ask your elderly neighbours or your best friends if they agree with you or not - as that isn't scientfic polling. Ask the many volunteers out there who would never think to nick a few bits of food.

Before I go a little further on this, I see Blair Mulholland is back and has already written his thoughts on this. He correctly states that her husband has a wage above and beyond the amount that could bring sympathy upon her. What need is there in Christchurch for her to be working for Bob fulltime? Either way, I am sure she and Bob are not short on the pennies and should lead by example.

Jim Anderton, the rival for the Mayors job has spent his ENTIRE political career absorbing as much from the taxpayers as he can. He has cost NZ an awful amount of money through his political wheeling and dealing. How can you be a good example to your ratepayers and beat Jim if you are already dipping in now? Sooner or later this petty theft will get bigger and bigger and soon you'll be the MP for Wigram.

The sad thing is that Jim may very well win, and it seems the right don't really seem to give Christchurch much attention... surely there is *some* talent down there?

Story here.

Chris Carter... his legacy

Everybody has said it all already, but this does present an interesting scenario for the right in NZ.

Carter has got the backing of the unions. Don't believe a word of whatever Labour MP has said about backing Goff 100%. The only reason they are backing Goff is because Carters attempt was so lame they are embarrassed to go public.

Expect the next few months to be hard on the Labour benches. Everybody will be pointing fingers and if the media are too hard on Cunliffe, expect another challenger to appear on the horizon. This will lead to the civil war I predicted a long time ago.

The war won't be too brutal, not by Labour standards. The "youth" who are convinced Labour only lost due to momentum change will want a greater say. Expect Labour flunkies Hipkins, Robertson and Ardern to win, while people like Curren will be working her tail off to be a heavy influence in the new Labour team. A scary combination!

I just looked and Carter has been deleted off the list of Labour MPs. Already the Labour cogs are turning....

I suspect unless the Labour team get itchy feet, they will stick with Goff until the election - which Carter has gifted to National. This could change if senior MPs led by the Labour President, force his hand and they switch leaders before Christmas. The big problem for Labour is that they are broke. They spent a LOT of money on the campaign at Mt Albert, as a sign they were still united and wealthy - but spies tell me the piggy bank is empty. Not only that, but George Hawkins has signalled with his silence that there is much more to come, especially with Carter saying he isn't going anywhere.. oh dear.

This means it is a 100% certainty that there will be a National led Government after the 2011 election. The question is, who will be in this coalition and will National use their second term to pursue the policies their supporters expect from them. Put it this way, I already know National will lead the next Government, but if Labour had a rise in support in early 2011, it could have been a contest, an uneven one at that. Chris Carter has sabotaged this and could be the man responsible for a National/ACT government to start getting more serious about their long term legacy.

See - Goff "Chris Carter’s future in caucus has come to an end.” (and not a moment too soon)

Also: Trevor Mallard does a good impression of a calm man over at Red Alert.

No - *this* is how you make savings Mr Key.

From the Guardian today:

The UK Film Council became one of the highest profile quangos to be axed by the coalition government after culture secretary Jeremy Hunt unexpectedly announced its abolition.

In a raft of mergings, streamlinings and closures, Hunt also axed the Museums, Libraries and Archives council (MLA).

Since it was created by Labour in 2000 the UKFC, with 75 staff, has been responsible for handing out more than £160m of lottery money to over 900 films.

Hunt has proved one of the most pro-active of David Cameron's cabinet in coming up with a response to Treasury demands for 25%-40% spending cuts. He has axed £45m for a new national film centre and last week the Guardian revealed how he plans to make between 35% and 50% of DCMS civil servants redundant and move out of the departmental headquarters off Trafalgar Square.

The DCMS also announced that it was to look at who was responsible for what in the field of heritage, examining the role and remit of English Heritage, the Heritage Lottery Fund and the National Heritage Memorial Fund. It also proposes merging Sport England and UK Sport; merging the National Lottery Commission with the Gambling Commission; and abolishing advisory committees on libraries and historic wreck sites.

Hunt said: "Many of these bodies were set up a considerable length of time ago, and times and demands have changed. In the light of the current financial situation, and as part of our drive to increase openness and efficiency across Whitehall, it is the right time to look again at the role, size and scope of these organisations."

So what we have are the big money suckers, the Quangos, finally getting the deserved chop. It's brilliant stuff from a minister who is embracing the culture that we live in today, saving taxpayers money. Hear hear!

What do 75 staff do? That's simply insane. What on earth are bureaucrats doing in offices around Trafalgar Square for goodness sakes? Government should be getting out of owning (or renting) buildings in this part of town. Put bureaucrats in cheaper buildings out of the central city.
All of the mergers also make sense, although you have to wonder why there was a quango for Sport England AND UK Sport... I'd hate to see the duplicity in staff roles there!

Take note Mr Key, Mr English and the rest of your party. It isn't enough to raise GST - that only serves to give you more money to fritter away. Cutting taxes is one thing, stealing it back via the flawed ETS is another. What people want to see is genuine reductions in waste - a move away from borrowing hundreds of millions in order to keep things they way they are.

Hate to say it, but the Tories are getting better every day - Key should pick up the phone and ask Cameron how it's supposed to be done.

**Update**

More proof that the direction they are going in is good... this looks very similar to ACTs policy on not increasing council rates in order to plug deficits. Many Tory councils in London and UK have already cut council taxes every year, my borough it has been a 3% cut every year. Labour have just won back Ealing, and promise to raise them again, against the wishes of the residents. I hope this stops it!

High Polling.... Low Values

Congratulations to the National Party for their constantly high polling since winning the last election. I know Nats are extremely happy with the numbers and they believe it is because voters think National is doing a good job.

Are we sure this is the reason? Are voters happy with the PR, spin, smile and wave and populist approach that National has adopted this term? If you look at it, John Key hasn't pulled down the foundations of Helengrad, if anything, he has put scaffolding around it in order to reinforce it.

He ignored Kiwis over ETS and the smacking ban. He did a backwards flip in order to keep the Greens happy over mining. This is to the detriment of our economy - and yet he was more happy to play Mr Nice Guy than face up to angry, unwashed protestors.

Sure he has played a masterstroke by rolling out reforms for holidays, work trials and the unions - but we are still unaware if the National Party will support freedom of association at student unions... and that is the very point of it all - What and where are the values that the National Party stands for? Are they that flaky that we don't even know if they support freedom of association or not?

Here are their core values, but are they sticking to them?

• Loyalty to our country, its democratic principles and our Sovereign as Head of State
• National and personal security
• Equal citizenship and equal opportunity
• Individual freedom and choice
• Personal responsibility
• Competitive enterprise and rewards for achievement
• Limited government
• Strong families and caring communities
• Sustainable development of our environment

We could call bullshit on at least 3 of these values, Personal responsibility has been forced on Nats by their ACT coalition partners. Individual freedom and choice is questionable if you take into consideration student unions, school choice etc and Limited Government is a hard one to say when you're borrowing hundreds of millions in order to keep up with the runaway cost of our bureaucrat heavy Government.

There is absolutely NO point if you are 30 or 40% ahead in the polls if you have no values. It's becoming clearer every day that voters felt they should give Key a chance, rather than a complete rejection of Labour. High polling will eventually turn into low polling, and if you have a lack of values and policy that is different than the others, you will be back in opposition when a younger, fresher faced Labour MP takes over.

If Labour could reform quickly, then National should reverse them and give us a National Party agenda, and not hang onto Labours bad ideas. Give people more tax cuts, school choice and go harder on the unions. Sell SOEs and cut the number of MPs. Make it difficult as possible for Labour to reverse them and stand up proudly for your policies, even if they are unpopular.

You know Labour will go back to spending it all, lets give them less to meddle with.

I see the online opposition to National and ACT is bringing out all the tolerant people...

The Union "War Council"

I remember being yelled at by a left winger when I was a student, they told me that the ACT party were simply recycling failed old policies from the industrial times.

Kinda hypocritical of them to say that when you have NZs top unionists and left wingers are preparing a good old fashioned 19th century class war. The Labour Party, with their paymasters the (Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union) EPMU - who essentially are the same collective, along with militant ex MP and convicted felon Sue Bradford and Militant Matt McCarten - are going all out to fight an "all out attack" on workers. It's really embarrassing, especially when you hear they are putting together a "war council" to build upon their little protest at the National Party conference this past weekend. When one thinks of a war council, you'd think of something like this:

I can tell you right now, this mickey mouse organisation, full of diehard ex communists, convicts, unionists, greens, career protesters look more like this:

Put it this way, I think that the Labour Party are backing the wrong horse. We already have 90 day "trial" laws in other countries and the unions are not trying to remove them. I have worked through all of my trials as have all my accomplished colleagues. The law is there to protect employers from useless staff, and what makes it more encouraging, the law has meant 40% of employers said they would not have hired staff if this law wasn't available. Quite damning statistics, and one that makes you wonder what the hell is going through the heads of Phil Goff? Unions make it difficult enough for employers as it is, there has to be a balance and beginning a "class war" is only going to create a "Us vs Them" mentality, which is exactly what these unions want.

What worries me is that union leaders are cunning bastards and can manipulate a lot of the workers enough to cause aggravation in some workplaces. Matt McCarten managed to get schoolkids to join his Unite movement when he arranged school buses to pick up kids outside schools to bus them to anti fast food restaurant protests, he is beyond having any scruples. Labour Party President and EPMU President Andrew Little is a nasty piece of work. I simply can't believe they think this is a vote winner.

Unions do NOT create wealth for the country, that is the job of employers. Unions may have been useful in the times before legislation and commonsense entered the boardrooms and peoples mentality, but now their status is dwindling rapidly. Don't forget the union leaders aligned themselves unashamedly with Communist Soviet Union, China and Cuba - and many still long for the days when every worker was forced to become members of a trade union. Their view of the world was that workers should rise up and take over, we all know this doesn't work and the class war mentality of these people should be viewed as very suspicious.

After all, if you piss off the unions, it's guaranteed that you're heading in the right direction. I really hope that people do not give them the oxygen to make this into something it isn't. If you are a worker and are confused about the laws being extended to all workplaces, DON'T go to your union organiser. If you work hard like most Kiwis do, you have nothing to fear at all.

See links - A War Council to be set up..

John Minto says that Key looks like a "Rat" (yes he said that) and have proven that they cannot read - this policy was in their 2008 manifesto. Maxine Gay from the National Distribution Union (NDU) and Matt McCarten equate it to slavery.

The Nats have also decided to legislate so that unions have to ask forst before going onto a workplace. That's reasonable. Every employers worst nightmare is to find out a union has subverted it's workers and starts causing trouble. Many a workplace have been affected negatively by heavy handed unionists, while others have been found out for lying in order to get into a workplace. This is good legislation.

Also See Maxine Gay - communist agitator, hardly a hero for the modern worker.

Matt McCarten - hardliner communist. (Thanks again to Trev Loudon) Matt is not only not a friend of the workers, he can't even stay friends with his own comrades (fun reading)

and of course John Minto, , the last time we saw him he was bullying a young female Israeli tennis player...

Are these three people good for New Zealand? Are they the types of people anybody can trust? They have never lived in any of the countries that they have advocated having a better system than New Zealand, and have spent all their life battling a non existent Kiwi Class War.

In the news today....the National Party edition!

Bill English got it too little, too late with this conference pleasing comment, "Govt must resist calls to spend" Does Engish think his party are a bunch of mugs? The Nats should have capped expenditure IMMEDIATELY after the election instead of leading us into hundreds of millions of dollars of new debt and no quality of outcomes. Does Bill English really believe his statements, or has he been told he must say stuff like this to make the membership happy?

Either way, they are fools for believing him and even more stupid if they take this belief into the 2011 election thinking the National Party really wants to take a different direction from Herr Clark.

One less person on Team "Blue" is Whale Oil who is now "pissing in from outside the tent" as he delicately describes it. The big guy has had enough and is now blogging as a non aligned member of the public, a fucking dangerous one at that. He promises no favours and will be addictive reading heading into the 2011 election, if you haven't already got hooked in. Good on ya Cam.

The last remaining teeth that National do have, managed to grind out an extension of the 90 day work trial to all companies, and not a moment too soon! There are work trials all over the planet, all nicely organised through employers, employees and not protested about too much by unions. That is because it works. 87% of Kiwi companies say its working very well or quite well. Not a bad percentage - but obviously this shows just how out of touch the trade unions are with modern working practises. Considering trade union leaders are not actually working per se, they are too busy plotting and bullying people. The 90 day scheme is small fry compared to what people have overseas, some have 6 month trials and even longer. I wish my company had a longer trial, as we had a 90 day one, as we could have fired our useless receptionist that came to work late and put us months behind in a programme we were running. We only found out too late!
Little surprise that the surveys on this show that workers either were not too happy about it or were not too sure about what the law was for, I would hedge a very big bet that they only hear about it from unionists who call it the "fire at will" law, and therefore compound it into an issue that doesn't actually affect most workers, except the bone idol and they are already working in the trade union movement :)

About time the Nats got something right eh?!

Breaking News... McDonalds is no longer evil!

It's about time the facts was made loud and clear about the golden arches. Lefties for years have been telling us McDonalds are the evil capitalist oppressors of the people - destroying entire countries through bad food, appalling labour conditions and the destruction of rainforests and agriculture. Yeah whatever.

If anything, McDonalds have shown through the years that they listen to the critics and emphasis their campaigns with the trends in society. Plus, most of the scare tactics the left have come up with are as always exaggarated. The Green movement would give anything to shut down every McDonalds in the world - even if they complied with all of their anti business demands. The Green movement is far left and is more interested in disabling capitalism rather than saving the planet, but I'm preaching to the choir :)

At the moment, McD's is pushing for more rights for it's Kiwi employees by backing legislation in regards to breaks:

McDonald's Restaurants human resources manager Lauren Voyce and franchisee David Gilbert said they supported the new legislation as it allowed employers to specify when meal breaks could be taken if agreement could not be reached, and for employees to cash up unpaid meal break time.

Under current legislation McDonald's staff who work a popular five-hour shift are required to take a half-hour, unpaid meal break, in effect reducing take-home pay by 10 per cent.

Mr Gilbert said during busy periods it was disruptive and difficult to roster around break requirements, which included enforced 10-minute spells, and preferred the idea of simply allowing people to work through or be subject to greater flexibility with breaks - something employees were generally keen for.

"The situation is in no one's interest," he said.

So... the workers think it's alright, and it suits the restaurant as well.. what or who could possibly be against this?

Enter Labour MP Darien Fenton, the Hamburglar, who says the current laws are already ok. This is despite workers saying otherwise. Good work Darien.

But it doesn't stop there... Other organisations representing employers were also keen to see more flexibility introduced, but the Meat Workers and Related Trades Union wanted the legislation to remain as is. Ah yes, and anti business unions would also like to see inefficiency remain. Not that there is any difference between Labour and the Unions anyway - another reason why business and growth suffered under 9 years of hard Labour.

The unions work off a system of "Them vs Us". It works well for some workers, who believe their is a class war of any description. But it's a dreadfully out of date mentality which unions are desperately clinging onto. Ever since voluntary trade unionism was introduced, they will pull all their dusty tricks out of their bags to fool some of the people to part with their hard earned cash to pay for them to "negotiate" for them. Mugs the lot of them in my eyes.

So if McDonalds are the good guys, the heroes for the workers - who then are the bad guys?? Apart from 'organised' Labour and their politican mates, the real "evil" fast food empire has to be KFC. While McDonalds have been making huge changes to their menus and becoming more green, KFC is remained the same and have not got not even one brick through their windows. KFC has got away scot free and yet people are gorging their high fat menu at ever increasing numbers.

Yum Brands, who also own Taco Bell, are breaking into the emerging economies of India, China and Russia at a hell of a pace. Despite them having over 37,000 restaurants worldwide (KFC), we never see Greenpeace or our local lefties idiots outside KFC protesting against their high fat food and their exploitation of chickens. Why is that? Why are the left fixated by McDonalds? If I was going to give an example of a socially and environmentally aware corporation McDonalds would be right at the top of the list for sure. KFC wouldn't be close, but they have not even attempted to do so, and good for them.

I'm not against KFC mind you, but they get one hell of a free ride. Something to ponder as you get your hands on a double down burger and sit and watch the left wingers with their bongo drums outside McDonalds....

Fifa World Rankings put NZ at 54th

After a good run at the Football World Cup, where points are worth more than friendlies - the All Whites have gone up 24 places to be 54th in the world.

Seems like a fair increase after 3 games against apparently superior opposition including the ex World Champs, Italy. I watched the Slovakia game while I was in Mexico and was relieved we pulled out a draw considering we played the long ball way too much. The Italy game was a different prospect, we went out there and played our best game in the cup, scoring in the process (thanks to the offside not being spotted) and more impressively bossed the Italians around the pitch for the 90+ mins.

The Paraguay game was a let down, but the point we got from the draw was enough to give people the hope we could compete with the best and I am in full agreement that we didn't have a bad world cup, if you compare it to the French and the Italians, and even the Brits! We deserved the plaudits from home and abroad and now we have something real to build on.

Enough of the unbeaten team talk, we have to pull our socks up and work on putting together a team that scores goals when it matters. The All Whites scored 2 against Serbia in the build up, not to mention a great game against the Aussies - so I know we have it in us.

Our next long term objective is to qualify for the 2014 World Cup... and like every other team that will step up, we will need to do it too. At this stage we are not a dead cert to do this, so we need to start this now.

The endless stupidity of Teachers Unions

A British head teacher has been "exposed" by the teaching unions, as he has earned £200k - leaving unions "outraged" without looking at the facts behind this.

according to local parents he not only does a good job, he has completely turned the school around since taking over in 2001, after the school had been in special measures for two years.

Speaking outside the school, parent Anne Marie Pandohrie said: "Before Mr Elms was at Tidemill, it was a run down school."

Now, she says, children are leaving Tidemill and getting scholarships to some of the best schools in the area. And its results certainly back up her claims.

Tidemill has also been in the coveted position of the top 5% of schools for the past four years.

Sited in a deprived area of south London, the school's 2008 results placed it top in the borough of Lewisham and 16th in England for value added.

Value-added measures the progress children make from when they arrive at the school to when they leave, and is critical in assessing how schools perform - particularly in poorer areas where children tend to start school with lower achievement levels.

The school says on its website that its "results show that with the proper motivation and high expectations Tidemill pupils can outperform the best".

For this work, at his 400-pupil school, Mr Elms receives a basic salary of £82,417.

This is well within the maximum head teacher pay rate of £109,000 for large inner London state schools.

So we have a teacher who is extremely talented, who has pulled a school out of the gutter into a top school where parents and children are proud to be associated with and the union are against it.

In NZ our teachers unions are the same. They don't care about the silly little things like "students" and "parents".

NZ unions are against performance pay as well, however it seems Mr Elms isn't just being paid for fixing up just his school..oh no, it's far far worse.

Mr Elms is one of only 75 head teachers in England to have been awarded the prestigious role of National Leader of Education.

As such he would be responsible for helping other schools that are struggling.
The type of support on offer varies, but can involve the leader going as far as taking on an executive headship of another school or schools.

It is not clear how much support Mr Elms offered, but the scheme has been widely seen to have made a big difference.

Tidemill School is also in the midst of a multi-million pound rebuild, due to be complete by early 2011.

As head teacher, Mr Elms would have had a key role in this redevelopment which would have required much extra work.

Grateful parent Ms Pandohrie says: "Every parent and child at the school loves Mr Elms. He treats the children like human beings."

And on his pay, she says: "He deserves it and he works for it."

He sounds like a great teacher - who works in (and lets be honest about it) a very depressing poor disadvantaged area. He should be rewarded and cheered for, but instead the militant left are attacking him.

Another reason why unions are against success... god help the children taught by these unionists.

My last ever post... on Peter Bethune

Peter "Pete" Bethune is a plonker. He is not as Matt McCarten says a "good rugged Kiwi bloke". I have said enough about this oxygen thief and have decided he is not worth it.

But I will fire off a few more points about him.

I was right, he will be writing a book. I expect it to be a brilliant piece of fiction. Expect the Greens to fawn over this tosser for a lot longer.

John Key is right. Bethune is bloody ungrateful. The silly thing is Bethune EXPECTED to be arrested and held on board the Japanese ship and sent to Japan. He had a letter with him saying he WANTED IT.
Does this mean that he despite him getting everything he wanted, he was still whining? Don't parents have a name for kids like this?

Sea Shepherd are dickheads. I hope they continue their practice of not being able to sail their own ships, although most media are idiots for reporting that the Japanese deliberately sailed into the Ady Gil.

The Sea Shepherd legal defence is flawed and will be used against them in the future. More brutally I hope.

No more taxpayers money should be spent on protecting Sea Shepherd stupidity and law breaking. That includes idiotic calls to send the navy in to stop Japanese detaining eco-terrorists who WANT to be detained. Our diplomats need not be sent to sort out "issues" with people detained in Japanese prisons, instead Bethuneites should be prescribed some personal responsibility (and whale meat suppers).

Bethune says he has sacrificed a lot - but he hasn't suffered as much as the NZ taxpayers and tv/newspaper readers/viewers who have had to watch this eco-minnow whine about his struggle. We don't care that you felt let down in prison. We only care that if you go out into the ocean again that you get caught, or better - eaten by a whale. Oh the irony!

Next time any Sea Shepherd fools get caught, I will write a letter to the Japanese embassy asking them to stay strong and defend the rule of law against these terrorists.

And finally... how dare Sea Shepherd say that "We knew he was never going to have a fair trial there" (in Japan) Why say that when the only people breaking the law was Sea Shepherd and weapon wielding Bethune? Japan are LEGALLY allowed to hunt whales. Sea Shepherd have a very weak grasp on reality and to besmirch the entire Japanese criminal system is wrong, lies and will bite you in the ass in future.

The sooner the better I hope.

End rant.

Sunday Silliness - breasts and tits

The Auckland University Rugby Football Club hired female models to walk about 'half naked' during a pre-test fundraiser. Well, actually, they were covered in body paint, like what the Air NZ crew did in their video, and what other celebs and models have been doing for many years. So what's the problem you ask?

Busybodies who think that this will lead to domestic violence and sexism think it's terrible and outdated. Did anybody ask the female models what they thought of it? Whatever happened to a womans right to choose? Isn't the cry of feminism "my body my choice?" If we are to tackle domestic abuse and sexual assault, surely there are better targets than what seemed to be a gathering of well heeled rugby, political and TV celebs at one of NZ's most famous rugby clubs?

Speaking of tits, Matt McCarten is spinning a storm over the Peter Bethune "saga" at the Herald today. In his eyes, "Pete" is a "good rugged Kiwi bloke prepared to put himself on the line for what he believes". Matt then blames the NZ Govt for not having a backbone and take on the Japanese right away... even ludicrously suggesting that the Govt send "a (navy)ship to intercept the whaling fleet" in order to force a release. What absurdity! We'd look stupid, not to mention after years of Labours negligence with the navy do we have any operational ships to even do that? Bethune spent 5 months inside and has no regrets whatsoever - despite the fact he illegally entered a boat with weapons causing damage and assaulting a Japanese sailor, which he still denies the severity of. I am sure the three people who met this Green Party "hero" at the airport also didn't care about the rule of law....

Dig deeper into the Herald and you'll read about Bethunes "emotional toll" over his 5 month "hard time" in Japan. Diddums. Should have thought about the time before you did the crime. The Japanese were generous to you. All this makes me wonder if Bethune is planning to milk this "ordeal" for as much as he can. I expect magazine deals, newspaper stories and Green Party conferences. It's enough for me to choke on my whale burger. I hope that people get sick of this idiot sooner rather than later.

Who else thinks Andrew Williams run for Super Mayor is a joke? I bet Christmas came early for Whale Oil! :)

申し訳ありませんが、日本は、私は彼がバーの後ろにクジラを食べてきただろう!

Peter Bethune woke up one day and decided that he was going to save the whales. With little regard to his wife, children, parents or others involved, he resolved he would do whatever it takes.. even if other lives were put at risk.

Armed with his knife and bow and arrow, he went out that day and threw rancid butter stink bombs at Japanese sailors, which gave highly concentrated butyric acid chemical burns to his victim. Peter continued his assault that day, causing criminal damage and tresspass on a busy Japanese whaling boat.

Bethune has since pleaded guilty to four charges including trespassing, vandalism and holding a knife for net cutting (we assume) and is on his way back to New Zealand with his head between his legs. He never expected the Japanese would hold him to face charges and I suspect he thought he'd be let off in Australia or onto another boat later that day - not ending up in Tokyo to face up to his actions.

These environmental terrorists never think of how their actions affect others and too many get away from criminal courts or being punished for their actions because people are too soft on them. The Japanese were generous to give Bethune the freedom to go back to New Zealand and no doubt milk as much out of this as possible.
I bet the Green Party, who say he is a hero, will either try and get him to be a candidate, or will parade him about to their supporters - and keep an eye out, I bet taxpayers money may be used for his little sideshow if he doesn't make anything out of writing a book or gets a screenplay made out of this.

The contempt Sea Shepherd have for the rule of law and respect for the Japanese legal system was out for all to see when they "expelled" Bethune from their organisation. They say it was because of their "non violent" ethos, but later admitted it was a strategy in order to get lenient treatment from the Japanese courts.
Surely this will play into the hands of the Japanese the next time an eco-idiot decides to illegally board one of their ships.

Bethune was bloody lucky to be let free but judging by what his idiot parents are saying, blaming the NZ Govt for preferring "trade links" over protecting their criminal son and calling the charges "bogus" despite them all being admitted in court.

If it was up to me, I'd have make Bethune pay for his actions. I'd give him 2 years in a Japanese prison and educate him on why breaking laws is dumb. My instincts would be to make him eat whale as well.. but I'm sure he'd probably start a hunger strike or something to bring attention onto himself...

I hope this does not hurt our relationship with the Japanese of whom I have great respect for. People like Bethune or these two losers should think about loking after humans within their own country rather than a few whales.

Porn in prisons?

Last week I discussed my excitement that they will ban smoking in prisons and now I see a prisoner wants full access to pornography while he is behind bars, for murder I might add.

He claims his freedom of expression has been breached... say what?

Prison should be a bloody miserable place, where you share a cell, and have no privacy whatsoever. There should be no reminder of what freedom feels like; porn and having a smoke are what free law abiding people have a right to - not convicted murderers.

I hope he loses his case. However if he does win, give him gay porn.

Obesity and sex

I reckon the title will bring on a few extra hits this week :)

I just read an article saying Kiwi women are slamming international research stating that thin women get more loving than their overweight/obese peers. In fact the entire article sounds like sour grapes and excuses.
However this quote took the cake.. as one might say.. :

But sexual counsellor Robyn Salisbury reckons the mere fact the BMJ research was conducted in France is cause for suspicion.

"French women, like Italian women, have quite an emphasis on being slim and gorgeous. If you've got to look really slim and gorgeous all the time, how much are you sensually `in' your body. Maybe it's really different for New Zealand women. Maybe we're more in touch with nature – our own and others."

Suspicion? French and Italian women are not as sensual as a "bigger Kiwi women"? Where do they get these researchers from? Tell any man on their OE that they have a choice between a slim gorgeous French woman and an overweight antipodean and I'll gurantee it's Une baguette s'il vous plaît for breakfast every time.

Perhaps the excuses should end and these researchers stop making excuses about the increasing waistlines being experienced by women AND men in NZ. Simply saying we are "in touch with nature" is burying your head in some very deep sand and ignoring the issue completely.

401 comments on Abortion on Kiwiblog (and counting)

David Farrar was mischievous enough to post a story on a law proposal by Labour MP Steve Chadwick in regards to legalising abortion on request for women up to 24 weeks into a pregnancy.

I presumed before I read this article that he'd get a hundred, maybe a couple hundred replies on this, but 410 comments (probably more now) is quite a feat. How many Christians read Kiwiblog? How many right wingers consider themselves Christian? Why is it that mostly men contributed to this debate when it's not even their body in the first place that carries these babies?

For the record I am not religious and I think that it's 100% a woman’s choice to choose whether or not to have one. By saying that, it doesn't take away from the fact that there is an awfully high number of abortions occurring in New Zealand. I feel that this is due to peoples diminishing attitudes towards personal responsibility and lack of regard to others.

Education is a good way to tackle these numbers, but the efforts to control abortion by mad christians won't help it one bit. It will only get the feminazis more worked up over it. 410 comments on something that hasn't even been written yet shows that this issue is far from being solved and if it does get picked up it will be yet another battleground for people to get worked up over.

It isn't an issue that excites me though!

If it does, go join the ranting over at Kiwiblog here :)

Blog Stats

While we are light years away from Farrars Kiwiblog in terms of readers, we do share a likeness in blog stats in how the blog is found via search engines. I did my semi regular stat search and found a few interesting stats worth sharing.

Search engine searches for Clint Heine and Friends:

Bob Jones and Rowling in Mouse suit (say what?)
helen clark lesbian
dogging in dunedin nz
DOGGING (err...)
Rachel Glucina
Neville Key (thanks Big Bruv)
This photo was by far our most downloaded from the blog, hundreds and hundreds of times..

and the number one search item, non political, was BLONDES. Blog visits increased a lot during the Latvian Blonde Festival, which I attended this year. I will be attending again in 2011 too :)

I have also received a lot of hits over yesterdays ETS poster. Please feel free to distribute and let the Nats know the ETS issue is going to haunt them at the next election.
